you're probably right. and slowing down didn't help either. it seemed the ball flattened out and quit rotating, hence no movement toward the pocket. having very low revs doesn't help.

I have been to Nationals 7 times. Each time, I learn something new. Over the last few years, more and more people have been doing exactly what Dennis said. Using a ball with a lot of surface and burning a groove. What this has done for those teams who can play that line is create a great bump zone for them. It can make bowling D\S after them a bit adventurous. Because of the amount of surface they are using, it starts to create a reverse block pattern. Most people burn the line at 10. Then they move their feet left further and further as the sessions go on.

This is the first year in a few that I won't be going. Teams are sick of Reno. I could have found another team to go with but I will be taking the money from my leagues that I would normally put towards that and buy equipment. Hopefully my team will want to go in 2011 even though it is in Reno again.

I was supposed to go with some guys I know this past weekend but couldn't afford it. I don't have the whole story yet but have heard they shot pretty bad. Apparently there was no room for error on targeting, if they missed by a board inside or outside they were in trouble. Of these guys there is a stroker, (left hand) tweener, and (almost) cranker among them and I know the latter two struggled, not sure about the stroker. Two of these guys are 210+ ave bowlers, the third is around 200 as well.

Foe whatever reason I always kill these flat shots. I would prefer to be closer to 45-50 feet of oil. Basically you can't swing the ball at all, you have to play down and in and you will do fine. The track area will dry up fast and you can stay there and pick up the speed as needed.

quick question about the oil. Reverse versus forward oil? what is the difference? is it when it is applied on the pass of the oiler, forward pass or reverse pass? thanks

Yep, forward oil is applied on the forward pass, reverse is applied on the reverse pass. IIRC, forward is usually used to define the volume of the pattern, and reverse is usually used to define the shape.

This. My Anger was my primary ball at one time, I put a 1000 on it & now it's a great option when needed.
