Do you have to trade your street shoes for bowling shoes too?

I've seen many centers do that. But the more common way to insure rental shoe return is to take your drivers license. And a lot of places do.

When I was in college, our student union lanes didn't have auto scoring. We gave them sheets. To keep from people from bowling over, there was a frame counter. We would write down the number on the sheet and then give it to them. I don't know how many times we would get people who would write down 3 games and there would be like 60 frames on the counter. They would get all bent out of shape but it was only like $1.00 a game so they would pay.

The pics above look familiar to me. When I was in HS, I bowled in a travel league. One of the places we bowled in was a 8 lane alley in the basement of a church. 3 ball returns in the house. One on each wall and one in the middle of the house. There were other ones that were 12 lanes that had the ball return up the middle of each pair. First time I was there, that really messed me up.
