So this is my first video and please remember i am only 3 months old. (when it comes to bowling lol). The lanes were (AMF if i remember right) and were newly oiled so my ball had no reaction and the ball was new that day. But please critique and tell me what i can improve on. I am getting the ball surfaced tomorrow and i will upload a new vid. But i have one with my Strike ball which is red and then one with my spare ball which is blue.

Please go easy. LOL. But be honest.

P.S. I am sorry the video's are side ways. I could not figure out how to correct them.

You're pretty big for only being 3 months old. laugh

If you have Windows Vista or Windows 7, you can use Windows Movie Maker to turn the video sideways. Add the video, right click on it and then select Properties, then select Rotate 270. Then under Publish To, select this computer or whatever media you want.

I have a Mac. I will look more into it tonight. Can you recommend anything on my form.
Or can you not tell when the video is sideways.

i'm getting a bit dizzy by trying to view them sideways, it's very hard to notice details that way.

It's not too shabby if your only been bowling for 3 months.
but ... it's important to start doing the drills to make your swing more free and keeping your wrist cupped. If you do not start doing them now it will be a pain to correct your form later on, i know what i'm talking about.

Your footwork seems to be at a decent pace, not too fast and not too slow.

Your swing seems controlled to me, you should work on making it more free.

Your wrist is open troughout the approach, try keeping it cupped all the way till the release.

These are just the 2 changes that come to my mind right now. More experienced people will probably see other things.

I am by no means an expert btw wink

What drills are you reffering to??? Also is there a place to watch video or read up on how to cup the ball and free up my swing as you recommend. I am looking for a coach in Michigan so I am sure that will help.

Thanks for the recommendations and the answers to my questions.

Looked around the two sites for a few but did not see what you were talking about but i will look more. Maybe i can find somevideo's on good cupping and freeing up my arm on google.

Thanks for the info. I might bowl again tonight and i will make some better video's and make sure they are the rightway up.

you can't really learn how to cup the ball, it's just a matter of keeping your wrist straight, not allowing it to bend back...

the free swing is created by not muscling the ball and having your arm act like a pendulum. There are like 2 video's of that on the first site.

Oh. Ok that makes more sense now. I understand more now hat you are reffering too. So in my video's it looks like i am muscling the ball and not penduluming it? And i am aware of the keeping my wrist straight issue. I am still trying to learn how to do it. I am hoping if i can find a coach he can help me. That is part of my reasoning behind the wrist brace.

it doesn't look like you are muscling it, it's just obvious that you are wink. A ball starting from the height you let it drop cannot stop naturally at the point it does now. also i miss the 'full stop' spot in your swing.

Please take this from someone who has a lot of bad experiences with a wrist brace and bad technique... Lose the brace and have someone guide you on how to stay behind the ball and cupped. with a nice loose swing...

things you learn bad now will only be more difficult to get rid of later on
