Great job Dennis!

I tried out my new Brunswick Rattler on Saturday night. Started off great, 205, 195, but fell apart for a 156 in the last game. Team wise we only split for the night. Still clinging onto 5th place. Which the 1st place team is pulling away as they usually do.

Nice bowling Dennis.
Me not soo good. 191,164,191
1st game I had to string 5 to close out just to get that. I missed a 7 pin,10 pin and 2 splits. Ugh. Rest of the night was all the same. Only one guy on either team broke 600.

Forgot to post last fridays scores...

I have had trouble carrying corner pins the last couple weeks so I will be at the alley every day practicing. Hopefully I will be able to get these things under control and kick out those 10's and 7's.

Nice bowling SK8. to add to mine, the finger was killing me last night. Also another 300 last night during league and there was one on Sunday from a friend of mine. Is this house getting easier?

We also had a 300 last week, and one the week before. And we had one last week in our mixed league. Either the lanes are getting easier, or the bowlers are getting better, or its all the new fangled equipment thats out,..the latter more closer to the truth. I need a new ball..LOL.

We had one in my league 2 weeks ago (the week I wasn't there). An 18 year old kid too. He has been around 190-195 all year. First 300 in a couple years in my league.

We bowled the first place team last night. Both teams had a lot of trouble, bowling on lanes 1-2. They are the first to get oiled, and right next to the door that is always opened for bowlers to enter. They transition really fast. And, when I came in, there were bowlers practicing on them.

I got 1 turkey all night and shot 568. 8 of 10 of us were under average. We won 1 game and series.

At the same time, another bowler a few lanes away shot his lifetime high of 815 with 279-278 and a 258. He was in the handicap pot and they announced the game highs of 302 and 301 for the first 2 game winners, him. He also won the 3rd game, and the survivor pot and a couple of brackets. Good night for him.

After a really good practice session Monday night, where for the first time I stayed in balance on almost every shot, I thought I was due to break out for a big night.

WRONG.

171-160-138 = 469. I gakked one up something fierce. Went 15 frames w/no strikes at one point. 8 opens in 12 frames. Pocket 8-10 and pocket 6-7 on consecutive shots. You name a way to screw up, and I was probably doing it in the last game and a half. Shot 203 the final 15 frames, and out of 32 strike balls tonight, I had precisely ONE where I both hit my target at the arrows and struck.

I saw that I was off to -- for me -- a good start, and I just wanted to rip the cover off the ball and amp up the ball speed. Total disaster.

Tonight's bowling, frame-by-frame (Link to series on BowlSK)

I thought I played better tonight, at least to start, but it's clear that more practice on the modified shot is in order. Transition usually forces me to move more inside, but with only one other real hook bowler on the right side, I had to move outside because of carry-down. A problem with the scorer in the third game also broke everyone's rhythm because it forced a move to a different pair, though I found something on the new pair to salvage a 157.

Team only managed to take one point again, as none of us were very consistent.

Richie, I know the feeling. The only shot that was working for anyone on our pair tonight was the DEEP inside angle, bringing it back from a breakpoint at about the 6-7 board. I don't have enough hand to play inside. The few times I've ever tried it (including one shot tonight), the ball almost never comes back. I can't trust it to. If the lanes dictate playing inside, they also dictate that I will not strike. Period.

Strangely, after getting swept 2 weeks in a row, we somehow managed a sweep tonight in spite of my suckitude. You know something strange is happening when 2/3rds of the people on the pair are swinging their strike balls all over the lane just to try to find a few drops of oil.
