Ok so first game 3 ten pins and a 7 count spare.
Next game every single shot buried in pocket. No doubt about it I was lined in. Shot my first sanctioned 300. 7th frame was the one, as I buried pocket= head pin goes across and comes back barely knicking the 10 making it fall back. The rest of them all flush. WAS AWESOME, I wasn't nervous at all- only moved 1 board the whole game. I get into the last game, come up high which I figured might happen. I move and adjust for the next two frame. The lanes all of a sudden get bone dry. I switch to the sting in about the 6th frame. NO DICE still coming in high. then go to the hornet to finish clean. Once I had no chance at an 800 I didn't really care. SAY LA VE!!!!! 300 BABY plus won $150

Congratulations Russ! I'm impressed that you weren't nervous because most people (I know I was) are once they get into the tenth frame.

I gotten to the 10th a bunch of times and always said if I got past that first one I'd be golden. The 11th one was easier. I also think it helped that a buddy was on the lanes next to me and told everyone to just keep what they were doing. I do remeber on the 12th ball that everyone other than the lanes next to me had stopped or maybe I was zoned in but couldn't hear a thing. There were no balls hitting pins anywhere. The 12th was probably the worst one I had as I did tug it inside alittle but held the line. (thank god for oil inside) but it still was pretty and people were yelling as soon as I let it go cause they knew I had a shot at it. Guess I should of switched sooner to the hornet in that last game.

Awesome job, Russ! Way to get your team into the rolloff and help out the Drunken Masters!

Not so fast. My 1st and 3rd games combined tonight were below 300. wink I was trying to implement my first few pieces of coaching advice, which I just got last night. Those pieces all have to do w/my super-super-fast footwork. Even after 2 months of basically forcing myself to slow my feet down every time I bowl from the previous session, they're still way too fast.

I'm now starting 2 feet farther back on the approach than I was until last night, drastically shortening my first step and trying to teach myself to slide again. It's strange. In candlepin, I had the longest slide of anyone I ever saw, yet in this sport I've drifted away from that somewhat.

The 2 hours I spent on the lanes last night were 90% spent without a ball in hand, trying to do those things I just mentioned while plucking a rag off the floor w/my bowling arm going through a normal approach. I actually could do it consistently after about an hour.

Problem is, of course, that it feels completely different w/ball in hand. I need a LOT of work on this. Had ZERO speed control at all in game 1 tonight (happy feet), then found it for most of game 2, then lost it again in game 3 before finding it in the 9th frame and leaving a pocket 8-10. mad

209,192,268 and my third series ever over 660. sad thing is that last game could have been a 300 had I carried 2 10 pins (I am left handed and for some reason I had a very hard time carrying a 10 pin tonight).
