Awesome job, Russ! Way to get your team into the rolloff and help out the Drunken Masters!
Boy this virtual league is bringing out some good bowling in us I have to say.
Not so fast. My 1st and 3rd games combined tonight were below 300.
I was trying to implement my first few pieces of coaching advice, which I just got last night. Those pieces all have to do w/my super-super-fast footwork. Even after 2 months of basically forcing myself to slow my feet down every time I bowl from the previous session, they're still way too fast.
I'm now starting 2 feet farther back on the approach than I was until last night, drastically shortening my first step and trying to teach myself to slide again. It's strange. In candlepin, I had the longest slide of anyone I ever saw, yet in this sport I've drifted away from that somewhat.
The 2 hours I spent on the lanes last night were 90% spent without a ball in hand, trying to do those things I just mentioned while plucking a rag off the floor w/my bowling arm going through a normal approach. I actually could do it consistently after about an hour.
Problem is, of course, that it feels completely different w/ball in hand. I need a LOT of work on this. Had ZERO speed control at all in game 1 tonight (happy feet), then found it for most of game 2, then lost it again in game 3 before finding it in the 9th frame and leaving a pocket 8-10.
