i kinda have the same issue with a thursday member. he gets ramped up, and does horrible. our score monitors are right at the end of the ball return right by the approach, about stomach level, i got in the habit of covering his score with a towel [he bowls first, and explained to other teams what i was doing, as their 1st bowler would be covered as well] and it helped some, as he wouldn't focus on score, but each frame.

it's funny in a way, cause on that 4 person team, he's the only one that always looks at the score before he gets up to bowl, the rest of us just bowl.

Whatever pressure this guy puts on himself, I doubt that he is unaware of your concerns or the towel over the score screen. That is only going to put more pressure on him along with any suggestions you may be making about his bowling.

What do the other members of your team think? Maybe it is time for a team meeting to discuss your goals and to do some team building.

It doesn't sound like you are in a highly competitive league environment and it doesn't sound like you're really having much fun at this point.

My unwritten rule when team bowling is to only offer suggestions and advice if asked.

I don't know you or your team, so these thoughts are just that - my thoughts. However, it does sound like the team has a problem that needs to be solved.

Revenator: welcome to the site, I agree with the mentality he has (nothing is wrong in his head) he says he practices sometimes, i tend not to believe it, he tends to exaggerate things (before he joined last season he said he had a 207 average, which I didn't believe for a second and after he bowled I said he seemed like a 160 bowler, I looked him up and he was like 140 something.

I am ok with him as a teammate, you get your ups and downs, but I can deal, i was just seeing if there is anything I can do to help him. I do like the handicap score line though! That I will certainly use.

J.Brown: 9 was high, usually I would say 3-4 a night (3 games) is average. Definitely agree with the pressure thing, but I do appreciate everyone's input smile

Of course we have off for like 20 days now, right when Im getting back to form!
