The
book mentioned in my signature is my first novel, a coming-of-age story about growing up on the Alabama Gulf Coast in the late 1970s. My heroine is a lot like I was as a teenager, with one big difference--she's completely clueless about all sports. In an attempt to find a sport she'll enjoy, the hunky, athletic hero takes her bowling, and it's one of my favorite scenes in the
book. I really got a kick out of writing her lines about "the bowling gym" and how those ditches on the sides of the lanes were unfair!
And of course, by the end of their first game, bowling proved to be the sport to win her over, even though she hated the
shoes!
