i was looking for a transition ball for half way through 2nd game into the 3rd game when oil breaks down. my main ball is a 15 pound arch rival. i first looked at a storm tropical storm, jazz, and a ebonite tornado. then i looked at the roto grip mars pluto and neptune. while i probably will go with the neptune whats the difference between the pluto, mars, and neptune.

thanks for any help.

Depending how heavy of oil you start out with you may want to consider The Storm Fast instead of the tropical, The lanes I bowl at in my league start out light oil then go pretty dry. So I use the Fast then transition to the Tropical.

Now the house my son bowls at start with heavier oil then transitions down to medium to light and I can bowl 3 games with only the fast there.

A lot of people that know more about bowling balls then I do will tell you the tropical isn't a very good ball because of the core, but when the oil disappears I love mine.

The difference between the 3 planet balls is their cover. The Neptune is a pearl, the Pluto is more of a dull ball I believe and the Mars is hybrid like the Hy-Road and Rogue Cell. It has a pearl/reactive solid cover.

As for recommendations, the Mars or Fast would probably be your best choices out of the ones mentioned. The Natural or one of the Vibes may be a good choice. Then there is always one of the Thunder line balls with a weak setup or one of the Avalanche balls that could help.

If Airway is anything like I used to remember it (I bowled there three times a year when I bowled on Ward many years back) then you could get something like a Freeze and be alright.

That being said, it has been twelve years since I've set foot there.....though I always bowled well there.

To stay with Columbia, get a Freeze or Loud Noize and you can't go wrong. Outside of Columbia I would look at the Brunswick Python/Rattler, or I'd agree with the Fast or Mars.

You are taking a huge giant step between the Arch Rival and the Neptune. Kind of like opposite sides of ball reaction.

I would agree with Amature...a Freeze or Loud Noize would be closer

i think i should include that the ball will be replacing my whitedot as my spare. not sure if that changes things. honestly the freeze is a dark horse for me but i will consider it.
