That is amazing. I wish I was there to witness and and to congratulate the guy. I'd give him a huge pat on the back. Heck I give guys a pretty beastly high five if they get a 300 or an 800!

Last year, I witnessed an 879 series. One stubborn 10-pin in the 4th frame of the 3rd game cost that bowler a 900 series. It must have been awesome to see somebody throw all 36 in a row. Did anybody think to use their cell phone cameras/video recorders to capture the moment?

Stubborn 10-pins have turned several possible 300 games into 279's for me in that house so I was very surprised he didnít leave one in 36 frames. There were two minor cliff hangers such as a trip-4 and a messenger taking out the ten, but other than that they were all clean strikes.

The tenth frame of the last game was recorded by a person with a gadget of some sort so he will have that at least.

Nice rolling by the guy.

I had a chance to see a 900 last season. I was thinking of going to try to sub that night but didn't. I got a call around 9:15 that night from a buddy of mine who was there bowling. A guy we both know through bowling had bowled a 900 series. I don't know if it made the paper but there was a story done on local news. It took a couple months before USBC put it on their site. Probably wanted to have all the i's dotted and t's crossed thanks to the aforementioned Mustare incident.

If my math is correct, for a bowler that is capable of throwing strikes 50% of the time, the chances of throwing 36 strikes in a row are 1 in 68,719,476,736! That should help put into perspective just how amazing is a 900 series.

After getting a 900 series on a THS, I guess the next level of achievement would be to get one on a tougher pattern such as a PBAx shot. I'm sure the top Pro's such as PDW, Duke, etc. could come up with a 900 sooner or later if they were in a regular THS league.

Personally, I would be happy right now just to get my first 300 and a nicer 7 or 8 series!

I'm pretty sure if we were to poll all the members who've bowled in a PBAX league, they probably haven't seen a single one shot. I went to bowl.com a few month's back, and the honor scores for PBAX leagues could be counted on 4 hands!

If a top pro was capable of throwing strikes 75% of the time on a THS, or 9 strikes per game, their chance of throwing 36 strikes in a row would be 1 in 31,434. Still, if they attempted to do this once a day, every day, without taking any breaks for weekends or holidays, the probability is they might shoot one every 86.12 years, that is, maybe once in an entire bowling career if they are lucky. Heck, the PBA has only been around for 50 years. Mathematically speaking, shooting 900 is still quite an amazing feat for any bowler on any condition.

Or one 900 a year per every 86.12 Pro level bowlers bowling every day on easy lane conditions. I would guess more frequently than that.

The biggest problem is once you start getting used to PBA conditions and doing well, it doesn't translate to higher scores on house patterns because they don't miss by enough boards to prevent burning the shot up. This is why they averaged higher other patterns than they did on the house pattern tournament last year. It's also the same reason the throwbot has never shot 300.
