I recently realized that I bowl over an entire game in warmups, so nice freaking job with a 187 COLD!

Nice 300 Vamps.

Sorry to hear about your back acting up Dennis. I experience some lower back pain once in a while, also sciatica once a year or so. 600 mg of Ibufrofen (Motrin) prior to bowling seems to keep me free but I'd hesitate to take it more often than once or twice a week.
225-245-212 last night on what is usually the second toughest carrying pair in the house. We won all seven points. Complete NV once again (medium THS: The Black Diamond likes medium-heavy to heavy). 20 strikes, a 7-10 and washout for the only opens. Right lane fried in the track area late in the second game. The 3rd game was an adventure on the right lane. No use going inside as three high rev playas had already been there. The left lane held up all night...

Hope you are feeling better Dennis.
Yes, as we get older the creaks and cracks get louder and hurt more, and it takes a little longer to loosen up ( 2 1/2 games wink )
Part of the equipment in my bag is a bottle of "Aleve" that works wonders.

Last night...well, I stunk. I am struggling again, scores so low I don't even want to post them, but I was under 500....Nice..
Splits again, but thats not really an excuse, I am just not adjusting correctly. Its like I forgot what to do (maybe I AM getting older and senile). I don't know if its stubborness or just stupidity, but I am slow to react to the carry down and lane changes. I need to chase the oil more, and react sooner instead of just chucking it over the same spot, moving slightly, and accomplishing nothing. I bowl in a tournament tommorow on synthetics, which I have little experience on..and my confidence is shot. Should be interesting.

Thanks for your well wishes. Long and short, after fighting what had been diagnosed as a hip muscle tear at the left bursa with cortisone shots. I have now been diagnosed with a ruptured disc at L1, protruding discs at L2 and 3, and bone spurs on L1 that are pinching the nerves going down the left leg. I was scheduled for an operation in June to remove the bone spurs. But, in consultation with the doctors, a second operation of spinal fusions was also recommended. I refused this, and opted for physical therapy, to hopefully, stretch the spine and relieve the nerve pinching. That seemed to be helping over 3 months, and was sent home with a daily regimen of flexation exercises.

Well, within 1 week of therapy stopping, the pain returned. Not as severe as before, but, enough that I can't climb stairs leading with my left foot. I can releive the pain by elevating my right leg onto a chair, and reaching around my ankle with my left hand, and pulling to stretch the spine to the right. Apparently, this opens the spinal gap and relieves the nerve pinching. But, that is only a temporary relief.

Eventually, I will have to come to grips with an operation and fusion, knowing full well, it will severely restrict my back range of motion. There is a new procedure that accomplishes the same or better results arthroscopically, with only 3 weeks of rehab, versus the previous 4-5 months. I am looking into this. the biggest problem is healing the back muscles that are cut to correct the spine. The arthroscopic procedure is much less invasive.

Get well soon, Dennis!

Do it now, even if it means missing some of the bowling season, your health is more impotant.

I too hope that you have a quick recovery.

Dennis hope you get well soon and are back on the lanes. Hopefully you will get through this quickly.

I had one of those special nights last night. For starters I had a post comeback all time high series with a 623 (186, 225, and 212). Then to top it off I was able to come through in the 10th frame of the last game which was the difference between going 3-1 instead of 1-3. We split the first two games and we were only 2 pins up overall going into the last game. I had turkey going into the 10th and I got off a good shot but was a little high and left the 6 pin. Their anchor left a 10 pin and missed it but were still down 7 when I got up to shoot my spare. I nailed the 6 pin and got a 9 count on the next ball so we got the game and overall by 6 pins!
