The 2009 PABCON Championships are due to take place this week in Puerto Rico, and the USBC will be streaming portions of the event on bowl.com, much as they did for the recent World Women's Championships. Both the men and women will be competing, and the USA will be represented by Bill O'Neill, Patrick Allen, Tommy Jones, Chris Barnes, Cassidy Schaub, and amateur David Haynes for the men, while Carolyn Dorin-Ballard, Kim Terrell-Kearney, Diandra Asbaty, Lynda Barnes, Shannon O'Keefe, and Shannon Pluhowsky are the American women.

With the USBC streaming an event taking place overseas, it gives us hope that they will do so for the World Men's Championships next year in Munich, Germany.

I watched the live stream of the 2009 PABCON and really enjoyed this method or reporting the action. I hope that more tournaments will add this feature for bowling fans. This also helps increase our status as a bone-fide sport around the world.

My only surprise was that according to the numbers at the bottom of my screen, only about 200 to 300 people were watching.

This was also true of the recent 2010 Team USA Trials in Las Vegas.
