Joe:

If we were to pre-bowl, it would have to be the whole team, not just me. It is in our league rules. A buddy of mine subs for me. He is a 210'ish bowler so there isn't a drop off. I have been trying to get him to bowl with us full time but he doesn't like the league. Our team has been in the league for years and they don't want to move houses. Plus, I am Sec/Treas. If I get voted out, then I may be more apt to leave. Until then, we are staying in the league.

First couple of weeks of league I been dealing with dry conditions but yet was still scoring pretty good (see my thread "Dry Conditions" for more detail on that.) Last night went really well. Started out with a 217. I could string strikes that game but no opens. Second game I carried my team with a 247. I had the first 5 before I threw a split. The ball didnt come off my had right. Then I had the last 4 just to finish in a tie. Last game I had 204 despite 3 opens. Overall a good night.

General, when we pre-bowl it is always as a team. It's not always convenient for everybody, but we try to accommodate. In any case, it sounds like you have it worked out with a good substitute. I guess you have somebody to help out with secretary/treasurer duties while you are away, too?

Nice bowling, dmoney, especially on dry conditions.

My sub lives about 3 minutes from me. I drop off the sheets at his place and he collects them from me. Other than the first few weeks, there really isn't much to do at bowling other than handing out the sheets and picking up the scores at the end.

Thanks Joe. I'm kinda expecting it to be dry because there is a doubles league just before mine. Long as I stay focused, I'll be good to go. One ball at a time right smile

Well here is my BowlSK for tonight. I didn't do it last week since it was the first week and had other things to take care of. The third game I had was playing radically different lines. The right lane broke down more starting the third game.

As you can see I failed to do well in the tenth frame, but that was three out of the four bowlers tonight as well. Some on my team blamed some of the bad scoring on the 0-16 Lions shirt I wore today.

We lost three of four points. There was a sub/roster bowler on the other team setting average tonight since he hasn't bowled in a few years. His first two games were 148 and 149 and his last game was just over 100. One person overheard the team talking about getting more handicap if he did worst the third game after looking at the score sheet. We went from getting 14 pins to giving up 53 a game. We lost total by 9 pins.

Our singles league started on 9/8, were bowling on 7 different patterns, (all animal patterns + Earl & [censored]) with the pattern changing every 5 weeks, should be interesting. So far I'm 7-1 after 2 weeks but you never know when your going to have a bad week. and get run over.

On my way to bowling Saturday night, my wife called and said there was an overturned truck up ahead, traffic was stopped, and suggested an alternate route. Unfortunately, that route was jammed, too, so I got to bowling after practice, just as it was my turn to bowl. But since nobody else on my team got there early enough to grab a table near where we were bowling, I have to find a spot on the other side of the lanes to put my stuff, and I am hopping trying to put my shoes on and carry my balls to the lane.

I am little frazzed, but they put down a consistently nice shot at this house, so I line up around where I started the week before. Usually, it takes me a few balls to go full speed, so I give myself a couple extra boards room. Bang! Strike. A couple minutes later, it was my turn again. I figured I would try the same thing on the other lane. Bang! Strike again. Hmmm. I still wasn't throwing the ball full speed, but it was working so I stuck with it.

Seven frames later, I have 9 in a row, and still have not moved or tried to adjust my delivery. I get up in the 10th frame, and I don't know why, but I reasoned I needed to throw the ball "right". So, I came through the ball like I normally do. It skidded past the breakpoint, hit light, and I momentarily saw the 3-7-9 (I'm lefthanded), Thankfully, the 7 and 9 fell, and I was left to shoot the 3 pin. I spared, made an adjustment to tighten up my line, and struck for 279. Out team wins, and I'm thinking this is going to be a great night.

Second game, I figure I am loose now, I had struck after adjusting my line, so I will stick with my normal delivery. I throw no strikes on the left lane until the 7th frame and shoot 192. Our team loses by 3 pins. Ouch.

Third game, I realize I need to make an adjustment on the one lane. So, I start striking on that lane, and stop carrying on the other lane. Argh! I shoot 185. Our team loses by 4 pins. Double Ouch!

Anyway, that's probably the most anti-climactic 656 series I have ever bowled. I have to wonder if I would have done better to stick with my warm up delivery.
