Just was curious how tight your finger grips are. I like mine snug but was starting to ponder if that is slowing my rev rate down. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks, Mark

It's really a personal preference. I know some people who like their inserts loose, but I believe they also have bad fitted balls to begin with and have to use a death grip on the ball to hold on to it anyways. I also know some that have inserts so tight they have to really force the fingers in. I like mine snug but not too tight. That's why I went to the Vacu-Grip set up. Even if my fingers swell the grips aren't tight but sometimes when they shrink the grips feel a bit loose.

That is a good question, Mine tend to stick once in a while not sure if I am shoving my fingers in farther once in awhile causing it, fingers swelling maybe not sure.

Cal, the vacu grips you have kind of adjust with you?

Well they are your normal grips but it's how the holes are drilled that makes it work.

There are two ways of doing it. The first is to drill the whole hole 1 1/32" and glue a sleeve made by Vise into the bottom then the normal insert gets glued into the sleeve and then a dab of glue at the top just on the pad side to hold it in place.

The second way is to drill the hole 1 1/32" like the first way but not as deep as the insert, then drill the bottom to 31/32" the normal size hole for the majority of finger inserts and then glue the insert in a similar way as the first process.

In either set up you use an insert that is two sizes smaller than you would use normally. That way when your fingers swell the insert will be able to expand some, and when they shrink the insert shouldn't be too loose.

finger grips are really personal preference. I had my grips done up because it was too large (my thumb shrink after 6yrs of absence from bowling). The pro-shop guy insisted that the grip was right for me but I felt it is way too tight. I even showed him that I cant even release the ball because the thumb will be stuck in the ball UNLESS I dont cup to ball AT ALL. meaning releasing the ball with a break wrist. he insisted that Im gripping the ball but I did not, the skin of my thumb just pulled forward and couldnt come out.

debated with him for quite some time then I gave up and showed him that the grip is not suitable for me by throwing a ball on the lane. lo and behold the ball flew up high because the grip on my thumb was tooo tight. he kept quiet and made a bigger hole for me.

arghh...

Neo, we are discussing just the rubber inserts for the fingers.

I like my grips snug so I can dig in a bit. Just had a ball drilled up and tried clear grips which had a little more pitch to them and they were a tad to snug me thinks. Take a look at the burns on my fingers!

I used to have that. It was a combination of the pro grips with the nubs and a stretched grip. Once I changed grips, and shortened my span, the redness has gone.
