Monday Night Mixed 5s

149-148-139=436

Feeling better than last week, just missing a few spares, and not striking enough. Kind of a weird week. I felt like I bowled a lot better than my scores show. Still split my match 2-2, winning the second game by 60+ pins and taking the series.

PBAX last night, we were on Scorpion. Didn't bowl to bad, kept it in the pocket as well as I could and left myself with manageble spares.

199 with one open (2-4-5, chopped and left the 5)

200 clean

203 clean

602. I only took the second game so points wise it was not that great of a night but thats ok because I am just in it to learn.

Pretty darn good for PBAX SK,

Jordan and I did our Friday night practice, I am still limited to 2 games

My first game 199 3 open frames! But beat Jordan he shot 188 with 2 splits.

Second game Jordan got a nice laugh I shot a 112 actually since I learned to actually hook the ball I was trying several different marks and starting positions as well as ball speeds.

Jordan was working on hitting his mark consistently calling it before each shot he missed by a board or less 7 times out of 10 frames and shot a nice 208. The lanes were so dry I believe I seen a couple tumble weeds roll by lol. But the owner only charged me 1.00 a game and nothing for Jordan so cant complain.

Bowled yesterday (Friday). I'm bowling once a week during the summer trying to get with the program. My local pro has called it "bowling, on steroids" compared to when I left the game over 15 years ago. I couldn't agree more. I bowled 6 practice games ranging from 147 to 213, with most in the 170-200 range. the prior week I had a 243 at another house. I'm starting to feel good about the fact that I seem not to have lost too much from the earlier days. I feel comfortable that I can average 180 my first year back, but would dearly love to get up into the 190's.
Only back about 2 months so I'm encouraged about my progress.

Monday Night Mixed League

144 213 147-504

213 is the second highest game I have ever bowled; had 5 strikes in a row (2-6). Choked both of the other games in the 9th and 10th, barely missing easy spares. Took 3 of 4 points from my opponent. Moved back to the left side of the lane, working a lot better for me than the right side was.

Well We practiced again last night and Today, Me 188-161-208
Jordan 215-200-158 Dry lanes house closest to home

Today me 195-178-196
Jordan 210-211-217

Med oil lanes Jordans league house

All in all I feel like my balance is coming along very well, Tried throwing the Fast the last game it worked very well for me but I could feel the extra weight making my hand sore about the 5th frame so put it away. Dont want to hurry and mess my hand up.

Jordan did pretty good but he still drops the ball occasionally, I had the pro check his fit and he said it was fine but did add some tape to the Thumb hole seemed to help . The pro told us he was watching Jordan and he noticed the first two games Jordan held his post shot until the ball cleared the pins but the 3rd game was stepping off early, and as all of you have mentioned he doesn't reach out to his mark but not to worry about that because he seemed very accurate but if he was going to work on anything that would be it.

Bowled in a youth tournament today (A Loschetter, if anyone wants to know). Sadly, I'm I have to stay in the lower division to even think about making the cut. The format is 10 games today, and then the top 12 (out of 32) make it to bowl 12 more games of round robin match play tomorrow. After that, they take the top 5 to TV style matchplay. The shot was the Shark and on these old lanes it played pretty dry.

I started off with my Rattler playing 14 to 10. The first game I shot a 215 with pretty much every shot in the pocket. The next two games, I started forcing the ball and making bad shots. That, combined with the changing lanes had me lost. I couldn't get a couple of consistent shots to make a decent read. I shot a 140 and 158. The next two games I was trying to relax my arm and find my line again. I tried a bunch of different lines. I ended up playing 16 to 8-10 for the majority of those two games. I shot 180 and 168 to shoot 861 for the first block. That put me ~70 under the cut. Coming back from the break, I started throwing my Smoking Inferno 12 to 5 and forced that shot for a game (176). After I realized that that was a horrible idea, I eventually moved inside to 18-10 which actually set me up for the pocket. I shot a 192 the next game and I was still about 70 out of the cut. The next game I made a quick 4-2 move left so I was playing 20 to ~10. Started hitting the pocket more and shot a 204. The next game I was playing the same line, but I should have made a move on the left game which took me until the 8th frame to make. Other than that, I shot about the same but a Greek Church in the 9th killed my score so I shot a 188. That put me to 35 out of the cut with one game to go. I kept the same line again, and kept hitting the pocket. Luckily, I was able to string some strikes together and shot a 222 to jump from 15th to 11th and into the cut.

As always, I started off slow and made up for it in the second set when the lanes broke down (861-982). Overall, I am proud of my bowling. Not because I made the cut, but for other reasons. My spare shooting was great. In 10 games I only missed two single pins and the 1-2-4. Everything else I missed was either a split or a washout. My mental game was also great. I feel like a much better bowler than I was a little bit ago. If I can start reading the lane better, I think my game will jump up a good deal.

Anyway, I'll post an update tomorrow night after I finish bowling. I have 117 pins to make up for the top 5 which shouldn't be that hard since each match has 30 bonus points for winning.

tl;dr

mikhial, good luck tomorrow. It sounds like you just need to trust yourself a bit more - if you feel like you need to make a move, try it. At worst, you waste 1 frame.
