First night on Scorpion. Lanes were exceptionally tight even for Scorpion. I overheard that the bowling center is experimenting with Kegel Ice lane conditioner over the summer. The best ball reaction for the lefties was straight up 3 board. The top lefty in the league was bowling next to me, and I watched him bounce ball after ball off the pocket and leave all kinds of unusual spares and every pin in the back row.
The first two games, I managed to grind out a couple 190's with my Ascent Solid sanded 1000 dull. I liked how it was rolling; my challenge was staying behind the ball. Too much axis rotation and it would not make it back to the pocket. That is one of the differences bowling on a sport shot versus a house shot. On a THS, those shots with a little "extra" would be deep in the pocket instead of light hits.
Once the Ascent Solid became shiny, it was done for the night. The next two games were spare shooting practice while searching for a next best ball reaction. The last game started with 7 out of 8 single pin leaves, mostly 7 pins. Next week, plan A is to bring a bottle of Simple Green and try to continue using the Ascent Solid into the third and fourth games. Plan B, something I did not think to try this week, will be to use an even weaker ball, my Ascent Pearl, to move out to the ditch.
